The use of ImmersaView’s VADAAR software contributed to make London Fire Brigade’s training center a ground-breaking facility. This AV component of the project has recently been completed by Feltech, who undertook the design, supply, installation and commissioning of twin incident command suites in West and East London on behalf of Babcock International, the prime contractor. The facilities use VADAAR to take immersive learning to a new level.

Create a training facility to modernize the way in which London’s Emergency Services are trained
The challenge facing Feltech was to create a state-of-the-art training facility with a system that can be used across multiple sites for multi-agency simultaneous training. Allowing for multiple branches of Emergency Services to engage in lined interactive training sessions at their own locations.
The gold standard in training facilities made possible with ImmersaView VADAAR
The training facilities delivered to the London Fire Brigade are world-class, with each suite featuring multiple streams capturing every aspect of the training sessions which can then be recoded and played back in order to debrief candidates, all made possible by ImmersaView VADAAR. The AV systems are designed in order to allow candidates to feel fully immersed in the exercises, with curved projection screens, hand held gaming console controllers, surround sound and interaction with on screen avatar characters and real life actors in uniform in the room.

“…This gold standard facility will help London Fire Brigade to deliver a world class service to Londoners…”
London Mayor, Boris Johnson
The system can be used across multiple sites for multi-agency simultaneous training. For the first time this will give the Emergency Services the opportunity to run linked interactive training sessions at their own locations, with Police, Fire and Ambulance working together in a virtual training world, echoing what would happen on the ground at real incidents or disasters. Feltech’s Managing Director, Peter Fell, is a leading authority in the field of Immersive Learning, with particular focus on blending the traditional roles of AV and IT together. This has been instrumental in creating a paradigm shift towards IP based, technologically advanced solutions for Immersive Learning applications as demonstrated at the London Fire Brigade’s East and West London suites installed by Feltech in 2014. Peter Fell commented “We were very pleased to find a solution like VADAAR in the commercial market to suit our exact requirements. As a software solution, VADAAR is scalable to enable collaboration and review for immersive learning”. In addition, Babcock International London Fire Brigade Immersive Learning Facilities were shortlisted for an Award at the AV Awards 2014. Feltech won the prestigious Business Installation of the Year Award at last year’s ceremony for the JCB Presentation Theatre – being shortlisted two years running for this prestigious title is a real privilege.
